Latest on Social Media for Lawyers

I wrote this article because social media is changing so quickly that its hard to keep up.  But if there is one social platform to focus on it is LinkedIn.  And here is why:

  • The focus is professionals and most attorneys benefit from surrounding themselves with a strong network of referral partners.  LinkedIn is all about this.
  • LinkedIn provides lawyers and other professionals many ways to tout and promote their expertise: through streaming blogs, to answering business-related questions and garnering appropriate recommendations.
  • It is the perfect compliment to face-to-face business development.  Before a meeting with a  referral partner, check out the person’s LinkedIn profile – do you have connections in common?  What groups do they belong to?  After a meeting, send a personal note asking to connect with them.
